Our story
A compassionate response to a crying need
In the heart of North-East India, The Nest emerges as a sanctuary dedicated to nurturing the complete wellness of body, mind, and spirit.
Our journey began with a profound recognition of the struggles that grip modern society — the feelings of meaninglessness, pain, and depression that affect both the young and the old. Depression has reached pandemic proportions, even among the very young; relationship difficulties impact mental balance; addictions touch large sections of society; and the loss of faith and purpose afflicts many, including those in religious and clerical vocations.
The Nest was conceptualized by Prof. Stephen Mavely, drawing from decades of experience in education, counselling, and pastoral care. His vision, carefully studied and embraced by the Salesian Society, has blossomed into this unique Wellness Centre.
The work is held by Don Bosco Society Azara, with the Salesian Province of Guwahati and Assam Don Bosco University, and by The Pathways to Wellness Foundation. The Foundation raises what the land and the rooms require, and works so that care stays within reach of those who have the least.
What sets us apart is an integrated approach. Unlike traditional counselling clinics, The Nest uniquely combines care for the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of the human person. We offer a non-judgmental space where individuals can share their pain, find understanding, and begin their journey toward wholeness.
Beyond immediate care, we are committed to promoting studies that help understand the complexities of life faced by people today — fostering wholesome living by mitigating the impact of modern challenges.
We invite you to join us on this journey toward wellness, where every individual is valued, understood, and supported in their quest for a balanced and purposeful life.
